Is a Fluid Suspension mattress the same as a waterbed?

No. A waterbed is a sleep system composed of a vinyl bladder filled with water that must be placed in a "hardside" frame for support. A Fluid Suspension Mattress, or "softside", closely resembles an innerspring bed, except it uses water (fluid) as its source of advanced contouring support.

Do I need special sheets for my bed?

No. Since our Fluid Suspension beds are constructed to industry standards, the same as a conventional mattress, no custom bedding is required. However, some customers prefer to use "deep pocket" sheet sets with our thicker, pillow top models.

Do I need a more supportive metal frame underneath the bed?

Yes. A heavy duty center supported frame is perfect for a BOYD Fluid Suspension bed.

Do I need to change the water?

No. Once filled, the only maintenance is to add water conditioner once per year.

Can I adjust the firmness?

Yes. By adding or removing water from the fluid suspension layer, you can adjust the level of firmness to any level you prefer...from super plush to super firm.

Can I use my current headboard/footboard with a Fluid Suspension mattress?

Yes. Since a BOYD Fluid Suspension mattress is built to industry standards, it will fit with any standard size headboard or footboard of the same size that you already have or plan to purchase.

Can I put my Fluid Suspension mattress in any room?

Yes. A BOYD Fluid Suspension mattress only weighs 280 lbs. (queen size). In fact, it weighs less per square foot than your refrigerator. The mattress weight is evenly distributed so that no special structural support is required. A filled cylinder only weighs 35 lbs.
